Us: Shining together

John 1:1-9

Question for Reflection:
Into what situation are you being called to carry the light of the Holy Spirit?

Prayer for the day:
Order my steps and my actions in a way pleasing to you, Living God. May I not only carry the light of the Holy Spirit to others, but may I also be engulfed by it. Light my way, and grant me the wisdom to be able to share your light with others.

The stable and manger: Food for thought

Luke 2:6-7

Question for Reflection:
How many place settings will be on your Christmas table? How might your meal be shared with those in need?

Prayer for the day:
Master of a simple stable, we are in the midst of preparing feasts unheard of in the days of your birth, meals fit for a king. Join us in feasts, celebrating your reconciling ministry on this earth. May our celebrations invite those whose fare resemble your humble birth, and may we proclaim together your royal feast which is to be shared with all humankind.
Amen

Love and Money

A Community of Love  John 12:1-11

Prayer for the Day:
Extravagant God, sometimes we want to hold things too tightly. We are afraid to let go and share our money, our love, ourselves. Help us to be more like you, who shared so extravagantly by sending Jesus to show us how to live. We thank you for this priceless gift.  Amen

Question for reflection:

Cheryl Brumbaugh-Cayford asks this question in her Lenten meditation for today:  When it comes to money, can we allow passionate, extravagant love to direct us?
