No time to be alone

LENT_real_rest_FRONTPAGELuke 22:39-46

Prayer for the day:

For our frailness and for our strength, which are so intertwined, we give you thanks, Great Comforter. Work through us to touch the lives of others, even when we are completely unaware of your movement. Help us to help each other, Lord.

Question for reflection:

Think of a time when someone unknowingly said just the thing you didn’t know you needed to hear. What did that feel like? Once you became more aware of the burden you were carrying/your own humanity, was Jesus present to you in that moment? What did that feel like?

Scarcity and abundance

Lent 2013 Cover     2 Kings 4:1-7

Question for reflection:
Where are there signs of abundance in your congregation and life that offer hope and vitality?

Prayer for the day:
Lord God, help us to care for one another and for your world. Remove our fear and tendencies to assume scarcity. You are the one from whom every family in heaven and earth takes its name. We pray, O God, that according to the riches of your grace we may be strengthened in our inner being to be vessels of your abundance and grace.

Concerning the Help at Dawn

A Community of Love   Psalm 22:23-31

Prayer for the Day:
Holy Spirit, the feeling of someone taking care of us when we are sick is one of the best. Thank you for taking care of us through everything. You don’t care who we are, what we look like, what we’ve done, you will take care of us through it all if we only call out to you. Thank you, Lord, a thousand times over. Amen.

Question for reflection:
When was the last time you asked for help? Is it hard for you to ask for help? Why or why not?
